Public Input Meeting for Battlefield Pkwy and Rt. 15 Bypass Interchange Study-Town of Leesburg

September 21, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

*NVTA funded project

The Town of Leesburg will hold a public input meeting on Wednesday, September 21 to provide additional information and receive feedback on the alternatives for a grade-separated interchange (overpass) under consideration at the Battlefield Parkway and Route 15 Bypass intersection.

This intersection is one of the most congested in the Town of Leesburg. The project would help reduce congestion and vehicle delays in addition to providing safer access across the Route 15 Bypass for pedestrians and bicyclists.

This meeting is a follow-up to the first Neighborhood Meeting, which was held back in April. It will take place between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. in the lower level Banquet Hall at the Ida Lee Parks and Recreation Center, located at 60 Ida Lee Drive, NW, in Leesburg.

Residents are encouraged to view the displays and learn more about the project in-person. Design engineers and Town staff will be on hand to answer questions. A form will also be available for residents to provide written feedback on the project and the alternatives.

Those who are unable to make the meeting can find the form on the project webpage. It must be completed and returned to Leesburg Town Hall, Attn: Karin Franklin, 25 West Market Street, Leesburg, VA 20176, or via email to kfranklin@LeesburgVA.gov, by October 3, 2022. This information will be presented to Town Council later this fall when they will be asked to endorse a preferred alternative for further refinement and inclusion in the Interchange Access Report.

Anyone with questions is asked to contact Project Manager Karin Franklin at 703-771-6674 or kfranklin@leesburgva.gov.

NVTA provided $2M in regional funding to complete the initial step of developing the Interchange Access Report (IAR). The IAR will evaluate the need for the interchange, analyze environmental impacts, develop and compare alternative interchange designs, recommend an alternative, and establish a project budget. The IAR is expected to be completed early in 2024. An additional neighborhood meeting is planned for 2023 to provide more project details on the selected alternative.
