On October 30, 2024, NVTA hosted the inaugural State of the Region’s Transportation Network Event.
Phyllis J. Randall, Chair of NVTA and Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, opened the event, highlighting NVTA’s crucial role in planning and investing in Northern Virginia’s transportation future. Monica Backmon, CEO of NVTA, followed with an impactful presentation, discussing NVTA’s progress over the past decade and ongoing transformative efforts across the region. The event featured a panel discussion with Jeff McKay, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Authority Member; Cathy McGhee, Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Transportation; and Julie Coons, President and CEO of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Their insights addressed the challenges facing Northern Virginia, exploring innovative solutions and next steps. Jason Stanford, President of the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance, concluded the event by recognizing NVTA’s significant impact and the importance of dedication to keep the region moving forward. Bringing great minds together is essential for building a successful transportation network that reduces congestion, offers more travel options and improves the quality of life for all.
