The Town of Leesburg will hold a virtual neighborhood meeting on Thursday, April 28 to present grade separated interchange overpass alternatives under consideration at the Battlefield Parkway and Route 15 Bypass intersection.
This intersection is one of the most congested in the Town of Leesburg. This project would help reduce congestion and vehicle delays in addition to providing safe access across the Route 15 Bypass for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. via WebEx. It will consist of a presentation to describe the project and alternatives prior to a Q & A session. Advance registration is encouraged and can be done at www.leesburgva.gov/Battlefield-Rte15.
The Town will also be seeking input from the public through an on-line survey, which will be posted on the project webpage after the meeting. All interested parties are encouraged to provide feedback. Survey results will be provided as part of the presentation to the Leesburg Town Council for their review and selection of a preferred alternative later this summer.
The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) has provided $2M in regional funding to complete the initial step of developing the Interchange Access Report (IAR). The IAR will evaluate the need for the interchange, analyze environmental impacts, develop and compare alternative interchange designs, recommend an alternative, and establish a project budget. The IAR is expected to be completed late in 2023. A second neighborhood meeting is planned during the first half of 2023 to provide more project details on the selected alternative.
