The Prince William County Department of Transportation (PWC DOT), in coordination with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to evaluate the potential social, economic, and environmental effects associated with proposed improvements in the Route 28 corridor between Sudley Road in Prince William County and Compton Road in Fairfax County.

The EA will evaluate three alternatives developed in the December 2017 Route 28 Corridor Feasibility Study, a long-term corridor feasibility study funded by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) to develop a plan to address the issues along the Route 28 corridor.

NVTA is also funding the preparation of the EA. Work on the EA began in fall 2018 and is scheduled to conclude in late 2019.

Visit the Get Involved page for more information on how to contact the project team or sign up to receive alerts. Project and Public Meeting materials are available on the Project Resources page.
