Getting drivers where they need to go, the 495 NEXT project will add 2.5 miles of 495 Express Lanes with new and improved connections at the George Washington Memorial Parkway and Dulles Corridor. The project provides new travel options for faster, safer, more reliable travel — reducing commuting times by 50 percent during rush hour for those who choose to use the Express Lanes.
495 NEXT is estimated to generate $880 million in economic activity, create more than 6,300 jobs during the construction phase, and will improve mobility and connectivity to vibrant economic hubs including Tysons and the Dulles Corridor.
The project is a public-private partnership between VDOT and Transurban, operator of the existing 495 Express Lanes facility, and is the latest extension of the Commonwealth’s 90+ mile Express Lanes network planned for Northern Virginia. |
