VDOT will present and receive public input on proposed design plans and findings from draft environmental assessment 
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a Location and Design Public Hearing to present proposed design plans and findings from the 495 NEXT project’s Draft Environmental Assessment. The project involves plans to extend the 495 Express Lanes by approximately three miles from the Dulles Toll Road interchange to the George Washington Memorial Parkway in the vicinity of the American Legion Bridge to reduce congestion, improve safety and travel reliability, and provide additional travel choices. The project will involve a change in limited access control.

The VDOT presentation will include:

·     The Draft Environmental Assessment being prepared by VDOT in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), to include traffic, noise and other studies

·     Proposed design plans to extend the 495 Express Lanes including pedestrian and bicycle improvements

Public input and understanding are important parts of VDOT’s project planning and development. Public hearing materials and information will be available for review by February 26, 2020, and can be accessed in advance of the public hearing on the project website (495NorthernExtension.org), during business hours at VDOT’s Northern Virginia District Office at 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030, or at one of the designated public locations.
